Pastor Douglas Larson

Senior Pastor

What is a church?  Just the other day I was at a seminar with about 500 pastors.  As I looked over the faces of these pastors, I again marveled at the variety. I am rather mystified at how different-looking we are as people. There are all kinds of shapes, colors, ages and design to us.  Yet, I thought that a common denominator at the seminar was that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was shared, preached and taught by them.  Tho they all looked different, the Good News was passing from them to others.

The church, the local congregation looks different too.  There are all types of people from all types of places and experiences.  There just isn’t a common look.  Yet, all these people come to hear the Good News that Jesus Christ loves them.  They come to be renewed, challenged, comforted, taught and sent to share, to serve, to invite. Again I marvel and am mystified, in a good way, about the variety that God has created.

Here, at Grace Lutheran Church, we have this wonderful variety of God’s people.  We are not all the same, nor do we all have the same interests.  We come from different situations and have many different hopes and dreams.  At the same time, we come together as people who are loved by God in Jesus Christ.  At the foot of His cross, we all stand on level ground.  All sinners and all saints—forgiven and made new by Jesus Christ.

I invite you to join us if you are looking for a church home.  We seek to be a welcoming and warm group, wanting to share with others what we ourselves have received from God.  We also seek to help one another be a part of the love Christ wants to share with a world in need.

God bless you in your journey.

Pastor Brenda Wicklund

Associate Pastor

Hi!  I am Pastor Brenda Wicklund and have been called to serve as Associate Pastor recently at Grace Lutheran Church.  I am what many call a “second career” pastor and went to Seminary at a later time in my life.  This is my first call!  How exciting for me to be a part of this church community in Mora, Minnesota as it has been quite a journey!

I grew up in the church and have always been a Lutheran.  I attended Sunday school and church throughout my life feeling welcomed, warmed, and accepted no matter where I went.  I believed it when I sang in Sunday school, “Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam” and always wondered what it would be like to be in the pulpit and do the things that the Pastor at our church did.  At that time women were not allowed in this position.  As I was married and raised our family I was blessed to go back to school and able to answer the call that I received many years ago.

My love for God and Jesus Christ and what He did for me on the cross drives me.  I am always a loved child of God and am granted salvation and life with him.   The verse that has meaning to me in life’s tough situations is an answer that Jesus gives a lawyer who asks him what the greatest commandment.    Jesus replies, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the greatest and first commandment.  And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and prophets.”  Matthew 22:37-39.

Grace Lutheran Church has allowed me to act on this proclamation and Good News as I have been welcomed here and joined the staff and congregation.  All are welcome here as we love God and our neighbor!  Jesus wants us all to be sunbeams!  Enjoy the warmth here at Grace!

                                                            Blessings and Peace,

                                                            Pastor Brenda Wicklund
