Education "Passing on the Faith"

Living Grace Library

The Grace Lutheran Library Mission will support all the members of Grace using the library resources to help them interpret what they read, hear, see and experience within the context of the Christian Gospel.

Congratulations to Emily Erickson who is the winner of the first drawing for the “Dive Into Reading” challenge. Emily received a pool pass for the Mora Pool. There is still time for all children through 8th Grade to “Dive Into Reading” and get your name in the box for more great prizes - Dairy Queen Treats and a Mystery Prize! The challenge will last until August 30. For every book you read, fill out a “DIVE INTO READING” coupon and place it in the drawing box. (If you wish, make a comment about the book (s) you read.) If you can’t decide which great book to read, here are a few suggestions:

The Yankee at the Seder, by Elka Weber and illustrated by Adam Gustavson. This book is based on a true story of a Rebel Jewish family sharing a Passover meal with a Yankee Jewish soldier at the end of the Civil War.

The Quilt Maker’s Journey, by Jeff Brumbeau and illustrated by Gail de Marcken. A young girl leaves her village to search of the true meaning of happiness. What gift can she give to those more unfortunate people she meets along the way?

Bless This Mouse, by Diana Hutts Aston and illustrated by John Butler. This is a soft-to-touch bedtime book that is a peaceful celebration of all life.

The Circle of Days, by Reeve Lindbergh and illustrated by Cathie Felstead. This author is the daughter of Charles Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh. The words and pictures in this book invite us to pause and wonder at and give thanks for the beauty of this world.

God Inside of Me by Della Reese and illustrated by Yvonne Buchanan. A little girl heard from her Sunday School teacher that there is a piece of God in us, and inside that piece of God is all the stuff we need. But why is her little brother so poky and why did toy bunny snore so loud and why did clown ask so many questions? How can a girl keep the peace of God when everyone else is trying to irritate her?

Living Grace Library is open whenever the church is open. Come in any time.

Please remember to return your finished library books. The book you may have forgotten to return may be just the book someone else is patiently waiting to read. Thank you.

Family Life Ministry

"Four Keys to Nurturing Faith."

1. Caring Conversation -time to listen and time to speak - practice this all the time.

2.  Family Devotions - devotions connect generations with faith, hope and love - get connected

3.  Family Service - Family service projects have been shown to be a vital way to pass on faith from generation to generation. We are influenced by what we see in the lives of others, especially parents and other family members.

 4.  Family Rituals and Traditions - Table Grace, Bedtime Prayers, a Birthday or Baptismal anniversary, and Church Services are some examples.

The Four Keys are ways to participate in the means of grace that extends God's love and saving work to the world on a daily basis.

Family Life Ministry will follow God's call to equip, educate and nurture

a faith filled life journey so that all generations may receive and pass on the faith.

 Bible Camp

Luther Point Bible Family Weekend Campers - July 2010

Thank you to WELCA for helping support our church families to attend the weekend family camp!  The theme this year was “Connecting” - with family, friends, church and God.  Everyone enjoyed Bible Study, games, crafts, meeting friends, campfires, learning new songs, wonderful food, nature, renewal of our Spirituality and time to relax and slow down from life’s sometimes fast pace.  If anyone has any questions regarding Luther Point Bible Camp, please contact Tricia at 679-9818.
